The Unit 223 players who did well in
both masterpoint races, but especially to Kay Jenkins of Mt Vernon, who won both
the Ace of Clubs and the Mini-McKenney in her category!
And an informational note in regard to the Masterpoint Races: The
Masterpoint Category in which you will be competing for 2007 is determined by
the number of points you possessed on Jan. 1, 2007.
The prestigious McCord Trophy, awarded to the Unit 223 player for most points won at Unit 223 Sectionals, was won this year by Judy Eaton of Carbondale. Judy shared the win in 2005 with her frequent partner, Glafkos Galanos, and repeats her win solo this year. Congratulations and well done!
Congratulations to Mike Carmen, Glenn Smith and all the volunteers who worked to put on the successful National Tournament in St Louis. It was a most enjoyable and well-run tournament.
Election Games will be held in each of our 5 neighborhoods the first week in June. Names of candidates, dates, locations, and times of Election Games will be announced on the Unit 223 website -- www.unit223.com -- as the election games draw nearer. Club managers also will be notified by mail, and asked to announce election games. Election games are currently expected to be held at Highland DBC, Paducah DBC (Knights of Columbus), Robinson DBC, Saluki DBC (Carbondale) and Effingham Park Distric DBC. One candidate will be elected from each area to the Unit Board.
The next Unit 223 Sectional will be the Pioneer Sectional Tournament, April 21 & 22, 2007 at Hendelmeyer Park, 1906 S Fourth, Effingham IL.
Directions: Exit 159 off I-57; east on Fayette, and south on Fourth to the Park.
