The big news in Unit 223 this month is the regional bridge tournament in Metropolis IL, being held June 22 through June 28. This tournament is put on by our Unit and is a fine opportunity to win gold points locally. The tournament is being held at Harrah's Metropolis Casino & Hotel, and it is notable for fine hospitality. Please come down to Metropolis and support our very own Regional Tournament. (See the tournament flyer posted in this Advocate for a schedule of events.)
Host hotels for the Regional are:
Harrah's-- 1-800-427-7247 (group code SO6ACB2)
Baymont Inn (next door) -- 1-618-524-5678 (group code ACBL)
Holiday Inn -- 1-618-524-8899 (group code ACBL)
Partnership Chair for the tournament is Maxine Wynn -- phone (270) 554-5719. Maxine would particularly like to encourage novice players to attend our Regional, and will help novices with partnership requests.
Youth Bridge Camp is a unique opportunity for students entering grades six through nine. To be held at Lake Williamson Christian Center in Carlinville IL, the camp offers bridge lessons, a tournament, swimming, fun activities, great food and more.
Sponsored by Unit 223, Youth Bridge camp will be held from June 28th through July 3rd and has received substantial donations that will provide 20 scholarships of $125. The scholarships lower the tuition fee from $225 to $100. The deadline for awarding the scholarships is June 12th.
